We have investigated the origin of the FeII emission lines in Be stars using a four level Fe^+^ model. We have computed the equivalent widths W_eq_ of emission due to (1) Fe^++^ recombination in the HII region surrounding the Be star, and (2) photoexcitation and decay of Fe^+^ in the CII region, which is outside the HII region. We find that the observed FeII line emission should arise from the CII region while recombination in the HII region is negligible
