HD 38529 is a 3.5 Gyr old G8 star with a planetary system consisting of at least two planetary or substellar companions, having m*sini of 0.8 and 12.2 jupiter masses, semimajor axes 0.13 AU and 3.74 AU, orbital eccentricities of 0.25 and 0.35, respectively. This star also has an infrared excess at wavelengths longer than 30 micrometers indicative of a cold dust disk. Dynamical analysis of the planetary perturbations constrains the location of a Kuiper belt-like source of the dust in this system.
This research was supported in part by NASA's Origins of Solar Systems research program.
