Published β indices and MK classifications for 282 mostly southern-hemisphere 04-B2.5 stars have been used together with the absolute magnitude-MK calibrations of Walborn [AJ, 77, 312 (1972); 78, 1067 (1973)] and Turner [ApJ, 240, 137 (1980)] to calibrate the MV (β) relation. A quadratic relationship is found to provide an adequate fit (rms residuals σWalborn= 0.96 mag; σTurner=0.83 mag) to the data. The resulting fits are in excellent agreement with Crawford's [AJ, 83, 48 (1978)] MV (β) calibration based on photometric data alone.
