We have recently shown that the ionized absorption seen in X-rays arises in the same gas responsible for associated UV metal line absorption. This identification allows us to understand the physical conditions in the absorber and probe the geometry of the circumnuclear matter. This talk will review the current status and properties of X-ray/UV warm absorbers and discuss the possibility that the phenomenon extends to other associated absorption systems such as BAL systems.
