HD 52788 was announced to be a Scuti star in Paper II of this series. It was argued in that paper that the 32 hr of observations obtained on nine nights then available were inadequate to derive a unique frequency set which represented the data. In this paper we present an additional 72 hr of observations of HD 52788 obtained on 18 nights during three separate observing runs in 1978, 1979 and 1980.
These additional data combined with the original data presented in Paper II are still inadequate to derive a unique set of frequencies that represent the data. It is not even possible to conclude from these data whether HD 52788 has a complex set of stable frequencies or whether it has different frequencies at different times. We suggest that further observation of HD 52788 would not be as fruitful as observation of other more tractable 6 Scuti variables.
The short time-scale (15-20 min) variations claimed in Paper II are not confirmed by the new data.
