The abundances of chemical elements in the atmosphere of the δ Sct variable star HD 50420 are determined by the method of synthetic spectrum, using the high-dispersion echelle spectrograms obtained with the help of 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory. The atmosphere of HD 50420 is characterized by a negligible overabundance of metals (0.1-0.2 dex on the average). This result does not agree with the suggestion that HD 50420 is a δ Sct star.
