The excitation of decametric radiation in Jupiter by sources other than the satellite Io was investigated. Two models for solar wind velocity stream interactions were developed to determine a possible correlation between the radio sources activity and density waves in the solar wind. The activity occurence spectra was examined for evidence of periodicity, and the possibility that the non Io component was the result of some intrinsic random process was explored. Below the strata of events known to be associated with Io, there are secondary and tertiary exciters which influence the non-random emission in the 18 to 27 MHz regions.
