Photoelectric spectrophotometry of the H & K and H alpha emission lines in six close binaries is reported. RS CVn, Z Her, UX Ari, SZ Psc, Ar Lac, LX Per were observed throughout with a rapid-scanning spectrophotometer attached to a 1-m reflector. This instrument and its mode of operation is discussed with particular emphasis on collateral data reduction techniques. The emission line behavior of each binary is discussed, followed by a summary of the six systems' common emission characteristics. These results are combined with previously known photometric peculiarities of the RS CVn group, and it is found that extensive chromospheric activity on the later type components in each system can account for both the current spectrophotometric results and the photometric peculiarities.
