Rapidly rotating late-type secondaries in Algol binaries are examined with respect to the observed characteristics of CA stars. It is suggested that late-type secondaries in Algol binaries should be regarded as a separate class of CA stars. Ca II, H, and K emission cores are observed in the lobe-filling component of six semidetached binaries. It is shown that alternating period changes occur only in Algols that contain a late-type star.
