Evidence from radio telescope studies of the universe and nonthermal stellar objects is invoked to support the big-bang and expanding universe theory and the status of current theory and tests is outlined. The abundance of deuterium is seen as a diagnostic key favoring a continuing expansion, but the question remains admittedly open. The ability of radio telescopes to probe further back into time (farther out into space), the arguments provided by the 2.7 K isotropic microwave background radiation for an isotropic and homogeneous proto-universe, the outlook for plausible selection between mathematically calculable models of the universe, problems of galactic evolution, the common nature of quasars, radio galaxies, and Seyfert galaxies, and the relevance of neutron stars and black holes are discussed. High-precision tests of gravitational theory on the agenda are considered.
