The detection of molecular gas which appears in absorption at large negative velocities near the galactic center for a number of millimeter-wavelength molecular transitions previously observed only in emission is reported. Millimeter-continuum emission measurements have been made which show that the absorbing line is optically thick in HCO(+) and has an excitation temperature consistent with no collisional excitation from -117 to -83 km/s toward Sgr B2. At these velocities CO is seen in emission at a level of 3 K. Molecular column densities are obtained for five species and a molecular hydrogen column density of approximately 5 x 10 to the 23rd/sq cm to Sgr B2 is estimated. This absorbing gas is associated with the nuclear disk and it is estimated that the total mass involved is approximately 8 x 10 to the 9th solar masses. It is shown that spiral arms in the galactic disk also appear as absorption features in HCO(+) and HCN.
