The radiation pressure exerted by resonance radiation on dust or free electrons in envelopes with axisymmetric supersonic motions and nonlocal radiative coupling is investigated. Expressions are obtained for the radial and tangential pressures components when the optical thickness of the envelope with respect to the dust is much less than or much greater than unity. It is shown, that the tangential pressure exerted by resonance radiation in envelopes with axisymmetric motions has several properties: (1) the direction of the tangential component of pressure is dependent on the nature of the primary sources of excitation in the spectral line and the type of coupling of the radiation with the matter; (2) the radiation pressure is capable of pumping up the initial rotation due to the internal energy of the system; and (3) there is a high efficiency of transfer of angular momentum from the radiation to the matter per unit radiation density. Radiation pressure is thus a natural generator of rotation in systems having a high concentration of radiation in resonance lines.
