Using the McMath solar telescope and the combined techniques of photoelectric speckle interferometry and wave front division interferometry, the two dimensional power spectrum of the solar granulation for spatial frequencies between one and two cycles per arc second was determined. The effective modulation transfer function of the telescope-atmosphere-scanning slit combination was determined under the assumption that the telescope is aberration-free and that the effect of the atmosphere is to cause separate tilts of the two sections of the divided wave-front over their respective apertures. Statistical information on this tilting was determined from limb data. The results of the observations and the calibration indicate that there is a significant amount of power in this spatial frequency range.
