The influence of electric fields on the formation of the vertical concentration distribution of O2(+), NO(+), O(+), N(+), He(+), and H(+) ions at levels of the F region and outer ionosphere is studied on the basis of an analytical solution of the system of continuity equations for the charged components of the medium. It is shown that at electric field strengths above 100 mV/m, molecular ions may prevail at heights up to 600 to 800 km; at heights between 800 and 1000 km, the concentration of molecular ions is on the order of 1000 per cubic centimeter.
