The main features of the radio brightness distribution of 3C273 have been established from lunar occultation studies, which show that the source is double. One component, 3C273B, is variable, and has an inverted radio spectrum. The other component, 3C273A, has a normal radio spectrum. A two-dimensional Fourier transform of the visibility data derived from all the baselines has been performed to produce a synthesis map of the brightness distribution of component A.
