It is noted that even small electromotive forces (EMFs) of nonelectric origin (e.g., thermal EMF) need be taken into account when studying the nature of magnetic fields in celestial bodies. This paper shows that the Coriolis EMFs acting in convective envelopes of A stars are able to create a large-scale field of about 100 to 1000 G, provided the envelopes are continuously renewed by accretion. It is concluded that a solution to the problem of magnetic-field origin sometimes reduces not to seeking some new generation mechanism but rather to choosing among the many known processes that effectively produce observed magnetic fields.
