Graphical representations of the distribution of (B-V) in data bases of catalogs are shown. The sources are the Yale Bright Star Catalog (Hoffleit, 1982) and its supplement Hoffleit et al.,1983 plus the Navy UbV Catalog (Blanco et al., 1968). The data bases are explored over the spectral ranges B0 to G4 and for luminosity classes III, IV, and V. Histograms are used to portray the distribution of the occurrence of (B-V) around peak values of B-Vp. Extensive color overlaps occur in the A-type and F-type stars. It is shown that B-Vp is in substantial agreement with accepted intrinsic colors in the A and F types, but that, in the early B types, it is significantly redder.
