Scientific paper

This paper examines the theoretical bases of calibration techniques for television photographs obtained by space probes and presents some results of experimental investigations. Two calibration techniques are described: the use of reference points and the use of a control grid. It is recommended that the coefficients of the approximating first- to third-degree polynomials for a standard grid of crosses be determined from the solution of a system of standard equations. It is shown that the best results are obtained by using third-degree polynomials.
