An algorithm is developed for the statistical estimation of the characteristics of a spacecraft on a space-exploration mission. The algorithm is stable with respect to the type and parameters of the distribution of the estimated characteristics and the measurement errors. An iterative algorithm is presented for the joint estimation of the spacecraft charactertistics and the covariance matrices of rapidly varying measurement errors.
