In the framework of a concept of discrete space-time, it is shown that the motion of photons under their own force field is damped. This damping is caused by the decay of photon energy as a result of the action of the photon force field. Hubble's formula for the redshift follows. This suggests that the redshifts of galaxies are direct results of photon motion in the discrete space-time under the photon's own force field.
