Scientific paper

A novel physical model for the distortion of the polarization of vertical-sounding signals in the low-latitude ionosphere has been confirmed experimentally. It is demonstrated that the statistical characteristics of the polarization ellipse in different latitude regions can be explained by the interference of rays arising during reflection from ionized layers disturbed by gravity waves.
