The large-scale distribution and kinematics of the molecular gas components in the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies are compared using recent wide-field imaging of CO emission. The two galaxies are most differentiated by the amount of molecular material in the central 8 kpc. For radii greater than 8 kpc, the properties of the molecular gas and the processes which regulate its distribution are similar.
