The evidence for megaparsec (arcminute) structure around 3C48 is considered in the light of new observations made at 81.5 MHz with a tracking interferometer. Confusion is shown to be an important factor in such observations, and simulations show it capable of generating the anomalous short-spacing increase in flux density that has been attributed to extended emission.
