We will present selected results of a study of hot white dwarf stars at EUV and soft X-ray wavelengths. Vennes & Dupuis will present the results of an extensive identification campaign of supersoft/X-ray sources from the ROSAT PSPC survey and EUV sources from the EUVE survey. The identifications include numerous active galactic nuclei and hot H-rich (DA) white dwarf stars as well as a few magnetic cataclysmic variables. The white dwarf mass distribution extends to 1.2-1.3 Msun close to the Chandrasekhar mass. Our total sample of ~ 150 X-ray-selected DA white dwarfs contributes to a better understanding of the formation and evolution of white dwarf stars and to their energy input in the local ISM. In addition, Dupuis, Vennes, & Chayer will present a preliminary analysis of a new Chandra LETG spectrum of the hot white dwarf GD 246 and a comparison with the EUVE spectrum. Flux measurements, spectral line identifications and abundance measurements in both spectroscopic sets are critically analyzed and compared. S.V. is a QE II fellow of the Australian Research Council. This work is funded in part by LTSA grant NAG-6551 and NASA grant (Chandra GO0-1083X).
