We analyze the feasibility of replacing hexagonal mirror segments with
the circular ones in the very large telescopes, requiring the
approximately same performance in the spatial frequency domain. The
potential advantage of circular segments is their easier fabrication and
a decreased amount of stray light contribution from the edges.
