Balloon-borne detection of three hard X ray sources in the 15-150keV range are reported. The balloon reached 3 mb height, and carried two multiwire spectroscopic proportional counters with 2700 sq cm sensitive areas each. The strip of sky between 4 h 30 m and 7 h 30 m, centered around the 38th declination, was scanned with an instrument sensitivity of one photon/100,00 sq cm. Three excess X ray fluxes were detected and fitted with the collimator response to a point source by means of an iterative Chi-sq method. The objects were HXR 0516 + 38, HXR 0638 + 38, and HXR 0707 + 38, which could not be correlated with any known object.
