Four emission line galaxies, NGC 1365, 2992, 5506, and 7582, previously recognized as X-ray emitters in the 10 to the 42nd to 10 to the 43rd erg/sec range, have been observed with the Einstein Observatory Imaging Proportional Counter, and, in one case (NGC 2992), with the High Resolution Imager. This paper summarizes the results on spectral parameters and variability presented by Maccacaro and Perola (1981) and Maccacaro, Perola, and Elvis (1981). With the exception of NGC 1365, the hydrogen column density values deduced from the photoelectric cutoff are much greater than those predicted from the extinction of the column, and in NGC 5506 and 7582 also than those predicted from the Balmer decrement. Some tentative explanations of this discrepancy are discussed.
