The range of the 20-25 A resolution spectra presented for low-redshift, radio-loud quasars covers most of the important optical spectral lines. The sample has been observed and reduced in a uniform manner. An investigation of the optical properties of radio-loud quasars is conducted on the basis of these spectrophotometric data, giving attention to the evidence for anisotropic emission from quasars and attempting to clarify the degree of anisotropy of each component via correlations with the degree of radio-core dominance. The widths of the H-beta line and Balmer decrements are found to be consistent with a two-component model for H-beta emission. It is suggested that line shape is related to the degree of core dominance in the radio map in a way which suggests an axisymmetric distribution for the narrow-line clouds.
