An overview is presented of past, present, and future astronomical satellites launched by the European Space Agency. Attention is given to the following satellites: Cos-B, TD-1, IUE, Exosat, the Space Telescope, and Hipparcos. The objectives and experiments of the various satellite missions are reviewed, and some results obtained with TD-1 and IUE are summarized. Characteristics of the IUE telescope and spectrograph are examined, along with features of the planned Exosat, the Space Telescope's Faint Object Camera, and the concept of the Hipparcos satellite's planned space astrometry mission.
