For all possible optical transitions of the type n(l) -n-prime(l-prime), where n = 1-7 and n-prime = 2-8, with n-prime greater than n, correct high energy limits of the collision strengths for the excitation of hydrogenic ions by electron impact derived from the first Born approximation are presented. The first Born approximation results for incident electron energy above 20 times the threshold energy, for the transition of interest, is reproduced by means of a simple analytical expression, and the possible areas of application for these data are noted.
