This paper describes a position-sensitive detector for particles or photons which has a spatial resolution of about 15 microns. The active area is about 1.3 mm in diameter. This represents an improvement of conventional position-sensitive detection capability by about one order of magnitude and should be useful in spectrometry, spectroscopy, and atomic collision experiments.
