The discovery of another star with powerful O IV emission, the nucleus of the planetary nebula M3-30, is reported, along with quantitative measurements of the strength of the line relative to the luminosity of the star. This information is essential to determine how the O IV nuclei fit into the general scheme of planetary evolution. For comparison, estimates of the same quantities are made for other O IV stars from data found in the literature. Except for the generally high luminosities and temperatures of the stars, no correlation can be found between O IV strength and position on the log L-log T plane, which may reflect the generally poor state of the available data.
