The authors have obtained UBVRI and Hα photometry of FK Com during February 1983. The distortion wave in the star's light curve is seen to have increased in amplitude and to have dramatically changed in shape since the previous observing season. In addition, a very energetic flare-like event was observed on the night of 21/22 February 1983. These data and the recent history of FK Com are discussed in terms of the starspot phenomenology for stellar surface activity. In particular, modeling of the light curves yields a best fit requiring two dark spots with a temperature difference between them and the surrounding photosphere of 600±150K and a combined area of 0.26±0.06 of the stellar hemisphere.
