Scientific paper

A method of designing astronomical optical systems by interactive computer is described. The following stages in the process are described: calculation of image characteristics from fixed initial values of the parameters, simulation of the displacement and rotation of the optical surfaces, varying the free optical parameters, and optimizing the optical system. At each design step, the aberrations are calculated and the constructed spot diagrams are displayed.
