L1689B is an aspherical pre-protostellar core, and has been well-observed in the far-infrared / submillimeter, including surface brightness mapping. As such, it is a useful source against which to compare models with observations in order to help constrain the underlying physical structure and environment. Using a self-consistent, 3D, Monte Carlo radiative transfer model we constrain the source structure, paying special attention to the unusual elongation observed at 450 and 850 um. Ultimately, it appears that L1689B may be best modeled as a triaxial ellipse embedded at the edge of a low-density cylindrical filament. The potential implications of such a picture will be discussed.
