The Nearby Supernova Factory reports that a spectrum (range 320-1000 nm) of SN 2005kx (IAUC #8635) in NGC 3197, obtained November 30.6 with the Supernova Integral Field Spectrograph on the University of Hawaii 2.2- meter telescope, reveals that it is a young Type II SN. The spectrum includes P Cygni profiles from the hydrogen Balmer series and He I 587.6 on a blue continuum. Assuming a host redshift of z = 0.026975 (Falco et al.
