"Hot jupiters" are thought to have been born beyond the ice-line, subsequently migrating inwards due to interactions with the protoplanetary disk. In the core-accretion model, they may capture other proto-planets into resonance as they migrate inwards, so some hot jupiters may have hot-earth or hot-mars mass bodies in close proximity. If a hot jupiter is seen to be transiting, then the transit times will vary due to the gravitational pull of the hot terrestrial mass body. I will give a brief overview of the physics of transit timing, particularly as it pertains to bodies in mean-motion resonance. I will then discuss the current limits of transit timing with HST, reaching earth-mass sensitivity, as well as the prospects for using Spitzer for reaching Mars-mass sensitivity. I will summarize simulations of the formation of hot-jupiters, and what they predict the expected magnitude of the transit timing signal should be. I will end by looking to the future prospects for transit timing with Kepler and Corot, for which transit timing can measure the mass of terrestrial-sized transiting bodies in systems with multiple planets that transit. This may be a means of confirming that these are indeed terrestrial mass, which isn't possible to do with radial-velocity measurements.
