Predictions and signal-to-noise ratios are provided for 26 occultations of stars by Neptune during 1978, 1979, and 1980. Occultation depths expected for a total occultation of a star are estimated, and signal-to-noise ratios are calculated for a 1-sec total occultation, which would occur if Neptune is encircled by narrow Uranian-like rings. The calculations are performed for the photon and scintillation noise levels appropriate for observations within the R passband with a 91-cm telescope at sea level.
