On December 5th, the GOES-13 SXI imager observed an EIT wave initiated at the solar limb. The cadence of full Sun EUV images was approximately 30 seconds, providing unprecedented detail of an EIT wave on both small and large scales, simultaneously. The wave was observed to propagate across almost the full solar disk and to interact with coronal holes and active regions. The 3-dimensional nature of the EIT wave is clearly evident in the SXI images. We focus on the earliest phase of the EIT wave, examining several outstanding questions, including how and where an EIT wave is initiated and whether the wave begins from a local or extended source. In particular, we will focus on discerning the driver of the EIT wave.
