The formation of circumstellar disks that are associated with rapidly rotating main sequence B-type stars is believed to be directly related to a near-critical stellar rotation. We investigate the circumstellar region of χ Ophiuchii with long-baseline interferometric observations in the Hα Balmer line. Our observations fully resolve the circumstellar disk around this star for the first time and present the best example to date of a Gaussian radial Hα intensity distribution. We discuss how this result impacts current state-of-the art disk models, which include solar chemical composition and full NLTE treatment.
