The prime focus (f/3) of the 3.6 m telescope of the European Southern Observatory at La Silla, Chile was used to make photographic, photometric, and first spectroscopic observations of K1-2. Observations indicate that K1-2 is a high excitation old planetary nebula at 2.4 kpc. Its blue subdwarf nucleus has a luminosity of 500-1000 solar masses, an effective temperature (He II) of 91,000-79,000 K, and a radius of 0.09-0.17 solar masses. An optical variability of the central star in the range of 16.5-17.7 mag (B and V mag) has been confirmed. The period 0.6707 day found by Bond (1979) was not negated, but also was not proven.
