The AGN outburst in Hercules A is one of the most powerful measured. Chandra X-ray observations of Hercules A show that the radio source is surrounded by a shock front. The density and temperature jumps at the shock front are both consistent with those for a Mach 1.6 shock. The outbursts has lasted for 60 Myr, depositing energy into the surrounding gas with a mean power that exceeds 1046 erg s-1. The effects of the outburst on the gas and its implications for cluster structure will be discussed.
