A 3.5x2.0 aromin(2) region in Cep 083 encompassing the two 21 cm continuum radio maxima has been mapped at 2.2 microns. An extended source at the position of the far infrared source has been found, elongated in east-west direction, the direction defined by the anisotropic mass outflow, recently detected by Ho et al. The photometric and spectrophotometric observations from 1.6 to 13 microns are reported. Strong absorption features of water ice at 3.09 microns and of silicate at 9.7 microns show the source to be highly obscured by cold dust emitting in the far infrared region. The overall spectral flux distribution for this source is characterized by a pronounced double peak similar to the case of the protostellar object NGC7538/IRS9.
