A search program to find magnetohydrodynamic instabilities in the accretion column of the Her X-1 pulsar and in the accretion disk of the Cyg x-1 pulsar is discussed. The main results and the physical consequences on the models of the accretion disk are summarized. It was found that the modulation of the emission of the hot spots due to their orbital motion of period P around the black hole has a consequence to introduce in the observed spectrum frequencies higher than the (characteristic time) minus one of the lot spot. If one or more lot spots have an orbital period P, the observed fourier spectrum will show a line at the frequency 1/P with a width equal to the life time of the lot spot. The intermediate spectrum of Cyg X-1 can be interpreted as the superposition of many lot spots orbiting around the black hole with different periods.
