We adduce arguments for the assumption that three giant stellar arcs in the LMC were produced by star formation triggered by gamma-ray bursts at their centers. All these arcs lie in the neighborhood of each other, which can be naturally explained by assuming that the source of the progenitors of gamma-ray bursts - close binaries with compact components - - is located in the same region. The nearby, moderately old, very rich, and dense cluster NGC 1978 may be such a source; over its lifetime, stellar encounters could give rise to many close binary systems. Some of them could acquire velocities high enough to escape from the cluster. Isolated regions populated by objects of similar ages may be produced by gamma-ray bursts outside the gaseous disk of the galaxy.
