With the launch of the GALEX satellite, UV emission has been detected well outside the optical disks of galaxies, yielding the possibility of studying star formation in extreme environments -- outside the optical extents of these systems. We present HI observations of galaxies that show UV rings well outside their optical bodies in order to learn if and how the HI is related to the UV emission.
