As domain specific Virtual Observatories evolve, interoperability between them becomes crucial to enable multi-mission and multi-discipline scientific research. It will be increasingly vital for Virtual Observatories to "talk" to each other as well as to provide an adaptable framework that is responsive to community needs and requests while being "technology agnostic". In addition, as new and existing services are become more easily available, they too will need to be integrated into Virtual Observatories. All of this mandates that integration and interoperation reach higher and higher levels The Scientific Resource Access System (SRAS) http://sras.jhuapl.edu was developed as a testbed and is the basic engine for the proposed Virtual Ionosphere Thermosphere and Mesosphere Observatory (VITMO). We have already used it to demonstrate Virtual Observatory concepts in action and will continue to use it by incorporating wider varieties of other levels of connectivity that a typical Virtual Observatory must employ to find and deliver data to the user. The SRAS approach is easily extensible to future datasets and data systems and will be able to tie into Virtual Observatories as either a peer node or a service by using an adaptable framework.
