The formation and occurrence of an earthquake may create anomalous phenomena related to other sciences, so the scientists in other field, including the astronomers, are also interested on the studies in their own field which might be related to an earthquake event. After the occurrence of a great earthquake (M=7.2) in Xingtai of Hebei province in China on Mar. 22 of 1966, the Chinese scientists began to pay more attention to the studies related to seismology. The paper tries to give a general description of the efforts of Chinese astronomers in this field in the past. Studies have been carried out in several related field in astronomy, such as solar activity, the variation of tidal force, and the change of the Earth's rotation and so on; some works have shown that the seismic activity in certain region in China is probably related to certain astronomical factors, although we cannot forecast an earthquake in using these factors only. Great efforts of using astrometry instruments to monitor the possible variations of the plumb line at the astronomical station have also been paid in several Chinese astronomical observatories in the past.
