Experiments on hydrogenation of CO on crystalline and amorphous ices at 15 K were performed to investigate the structural effect of ice surface on reactivity. It was found that the effective reaction rate constant of CO hydrogenation on amorphous ice is much larger than that on crystalline ice. This would be attributed to the lager surface area of amorphous ice.
