We consider current observations of gas within debris disks systems such
as β Pic. While there is clearly some gas present, the evidence
for molecular hydrogen is, at best, weak. It is possible that these
systems have more mass in dust than in gas -- very different from the
interstellar dark clouds from which stars form, but similar to comets.
